5 reasons to pick up Biking

Before we start let's just get one acknowledgement out of the way Bike seats are the worst...sure you can do things like add your own padding and what not but, man , is there such a thing as a comfortable bike seat? It's like a right of passage torture for your butt. Acknowledgement over. Here are 5 reasons why you should take biking, especially outdoor biking instead of spinning in a gross, sweaty, steamy, soul cycle classroom. 1. It gives your lower limbs a break from running trauma #Lowimpact 2. Strengths the large muscles in your leg such as your hamstrings, quads and glutes. # ChiseledLegs 3. Good for your heart and lungs (Cardiovascular Fitness) #HeartHealth 4. Improve Balance and Posture by engaging your abs, trunk, back and neck muscles. 5. Eco friendly option to getting around instead of driving.

5 things on My Summer Bucket List

Are we cancelling the whole year 2020? If not, can a girl day dream on her summer bucket list? At this point, I'm not sure if am being delusional or if I can sincerely accomplish my summer bucket list. 1. Make it out to California - specifically San Diego 2. Read Where the Forest Meets the Stars. I have heard so many reviews about the book, I want to check it out for myself. 3.  International travel trip? 4. Visit friends in Boston I haven't seen because of the Quarantine 5. Run a race. I have been working out through out the quarantine and now I feel like I should top all that effort with race finishing medal. 6. Go back to Zion Park in Utah with a friend and spend the weekend.

Lululemon Stocks and Tights

I'm not exactly sure what is triggering lululemon stocks to go up in the middle of a pandemic. I suppose I could jump on the internet of things and find a deep dive financial analytics of the whole thing....but I can't be bothered. The only reason am blogging about it is because the rise in its stock prices got my attention. Because for a moment my budgetnista self had forgotten about their outrageous prices for tights ( $90+).  M ine are the thunder tigh ts that rip ALL tights. You name the brand, I've tried it. You name the dollar amount, I've unfortunately spent it. This is not to dismiss the high quality nature of their product. As with any market, in the athletic leisure market there is a broad range of quality and proven performance when it comes to products. My only problem is, AT THE END OF THE DAY, ALL MY  WORKOUT TIGHTS ARE MET WITH THE SAME FATE......TORN BY MY THUNDER THIGHS after a period of time. Are lululemon tights worth the money?  Yes if you ca...

“A father is the template of a man Nature gives a girl”

This journey of life that we're all on, is a very interesting teacher. Father's day is a holiday that I've spent many years celebrating.  Now it's marked by grieve, not just because am still grieving my dad's passing but because he passed away during the week of this very holiday. I still remember how raw my pain was amidst the celebrations and well wishes by ignorant strangers who didn't know my recent  pain. The holiday has become a painful reminder of my loss in every sense of the word. Yet, in the middle of that pain, I sometimes day dream of the day I will become a mother and wonder who will become the father of our child or shall I say children.  I look forward to that day with pleasure and amusement even though I am currently single. Happy father's day to all the men who are doing the damn thing. Raising their own children or step children, uncle awesomes, Big brothers acting as mentors to young men without father figures in their lives and ever...

Destination: Red Rock Canyon

What do you know about the Red Rock Canyons? Until I moved to the Nevada area, I knew nothing about them. And am the kind of girl who hates not knowing anything about something that I should know something about. So Let's learn together. 1. The  scenic drive is  13 miles (half marathon) . So you can still enjoy them without getting out of your car for you lazy or physically disabled bodies. 2. Modes of movement once you are on site include:  Hiking, biking, horseback riding and rock climbing. 3. Camping is a OUI/YES  4. The red color in some of the rocks formations are a result of Iron oxidation. Apparently it's also a great area for those who love bird watching. 5. Guys they found dinosaurs tracks here dating around 190 millions years ago.  Now if that's not cool I don't know what is.

Podcast Fridays: Dreams in Drive

If you've been reading my blog posts long enough or follow me on social media, then you already know how I feel about podcasts. I love podcasts because I can multi task and still learn at the same time. But I make it a point to stop what am doing and jot down notes anytime I hear something good.  Today's podcast highlight is Dreams in Drive by Rana Campbell. At first I thought this podcast was strictly for entrepreneurs but I digress. Even though I don't own a business, I have an entrepreneurial spirit in everything I do.  It's always refreshing to hear the guests on the show talk about the twist and turns in their career paths. There's a lot of wisdom from the guests on hard work, ethics, faith, recovering after a loss, pivoting, starting over and many more life lessons that do not only apply to running a business. Check it out and let me know what you think.  If you have podcast recommendations for me please leave them in the comment section or send ...

Gratitude amidst the Pandemic and Protests against Police Brutality (6 months update)

In honor of June being National Post Traumatic Stress Disorder month, let us work on a gratitude list.  It will be easy for me to write a list of 100 things I am not happy with during this current climate. However,  I am challenging myself to do the opposite. To write a gratitude list of 10 things I am grateful for. My previous list is found in the Birthday reflection and gratitude post. Today, as we come into the half way point of 2020, I am grateful for 1. Prayer and other faith based life groups Zoom calls 2. Friends who consistently check in. 3. All my Essential Needs are met 4. Good health. 5. Support from my job 6. Being able to take evening walks 7. Being Financially okay 8. The opportunity to catch up on reading books I love. 9. Falling back in love with cooking 10. Using this time to learn new hobbies/skills that may serve me post pandemic. What are you grateful for? I know it can be hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel but I promise you, this too shall pass...

Segregated, Saved and Sanctified

The thought of my identity as a black christian has been on my mind lately with everything that is going on in our world here in America.  Am I a black christian or a christian who is black?   My faith tells me we live in a fallen world and therefor in this world we will face suffering.  I believe that. My problem as a black christian has never been with non-Christians because in my opinion I cannot hold people outside of my organization accountable to keeping the principles of that organization.  My problem with my faith has always been with evangelicals who refuse to confront the issues of racism in america. Church folks will be the first to sign up for mission trips to go save people in other countries but refuse to confront the issues at home. Charity begins at home. If one of the foundations of our  faith is LOVE, how can we be so divided as the body of Christ on the issue of racism? The church is suppose to be the one leading the charge/fight against racis...

Book Review: Live Your Truth by Kamal Ravikant

It was ok.  Basically he regurgitated a lot of nuance statements found in every self help book in the market. This book reminds me of Jay Shetty, the self proclaimed self-help guru/former monk who is currently making a living by repeating all the wise words he read from all the wisdom based books out there. I understand that there's not a lot of new information out there in terms of this topic. However there is such a thing as giving credit where it's due (citing, referencing, quoting, etc). On the other hand, I don't know. I felt like this was just a man, bringing a diary of his life to the open market, to be bought. So really , these words are his truths. His living testaments. I like it's simplicity. I like that he doesn't try to sell you this spiritual visual or aesthetics of soul searching. And makes you see that the whole process itself is simple but we humans sometimes complicate it by overthinking instead of just surrendering to the process. Brace yourse...

Now Testing:- Young Living Essential Oils

I got bite with the diffuser/humidifier/vaporizer craze. This seems to be the newest wellness fad in the market.  Essential oils and the use of humidifiers/vaporizers/diffusers. These devices have been around for many years as a medical tool assistance for those suffering from different ailments, especially related to breathing but now it's been commercialized as an every day product/routine to improve the quality of air at home. What is the difference between the three? Diffuser                             Humidifier                    Vaporizer                                     Introduces mist  in  t he air  in a  breathable  form. Used to dilute oils  and introduce them in the  air to...
