There’s a quiet reality that doesn’t get talked about enough.  Living as a single person is expensive.   One income carries everything. Rent. Groceries. Bills. Emergencies. There’s no one to split the cost, no second paycheck to create margin. What others share, as singles, we carry alone. Some call it the “ single tax .”  Recently, I watched a video by The Financial Diet titled “ What Nobody Tells You About Being the Single Friend .” It put words to something many of us feel but don’t always say out loud. The video highlights the hidden costs of being single. The way expenses stack up differently. The social expectations. The financial, emotional and mental weight that often goes unseen.  It's been a while since I stepped foot into a goodwill. Beyond being able to find everyday items for super cheap prices, I love the broader mission of goodwill and all its efforts towards social equity. My goodwill budget is always between $10-$20. Sometimes I will intentionally not bring my wallet and only carry a paper bill to represent my spending cap because it is easy to get carried away while thrifting. My second restriction is, I will only shop or buy items with the sale tag of the day to ensure I get the additional 50% off. This takes a lot of discipline especially when you find something you love but it's not in the sale tag color of the day. You have to let it go and try again next time. If you've been reading my blog posts long enough or follow me on social media, then you already know how I feel about podcasts. I love podcasts because I can multi task and still learn at the same time. But I make it a point to stop what am doing and jot down notes anytime I hear something good.  Today's podcast highlight is Dreams in Drive by Rana Campbell. At first I thought this podcast was strictly for entrepreneurs but I digress. Even though I don't own a business, I have an entrepreneurial spirit in everything I do.  It's always refreshing to hear the guests on the show talk about the twist and turns in their career paths. There's a lot of wisdom from the guests on hard work, ethics, faith, recovering after a loss, pivoting, starting over and many more life lessons that do not only apply to running a business. Having recently completed a winter cleaning session, I decided to stop at my local salvation army to donate some clothes and browse around too.  It's been a while since I've been out thrifting on account of I was on a tight budget and trying to be a minimalist. And also to be quiet frank, I didn't NEED anything  in particular throughout the cold winter months.  But now that the weather is warmer, its wedding season, graduation season, barbecue parties, pool parties and etc.  Here are 3 amazing NEW! finds I got on my latest trip to the Salvation Army. Everything was 50% off the price tag so I paid around $3 for each pair of shoes and they were all brand new! 1. Just Fab Prima Thigh High boots The irony of this find is, I have been looking every where for affordable thigh high boots that can accommodate my muscular calves. I had even gotten to the point of saving and investing $$$$$ for a luxury brand pair. This was definitely my best find from this trip....
