My Beach music play list from Youtube

My beach temperament is chill, chill chill. I just want to lay on a beach chair all day with a good book and a good drink and the ONLY time, I want to get up, is to go cool off in the water and come lay back down. I don't understand people who want to  dance and jump around at the beach. First of all, its too hot for all of that mess. Second of all, its too hot for all that noise. My beach music playlist matches my temperament at the beach : RELAXED Enjoy my beach music selection from the TUBE

Elan Trotman's Tribute to Marvin Gaye

For my friend's birthday celebration, we started the night with dinner at 730 Tavern, Kitchen and Patio on mass ave. Since I had already had an early dinner, I was there for the drinks, appetizers and dessert but when one of the guests was lovely enough to bring a cake for the celebrations, I settled for ordering just an appetizer, the calamari. It was a really nice space and I want to go back because apparently they have a Sunday buffet brunch for $17.... hello! And they'll be celebrating National Rum Day on Aug 16th...double hello! (frame of Mia Hamm soccer jersey at 730 Tavern) After dinner, we headed out to Sculler's Jazz Club to watch Elan Trotman's tribute to the late Marvin Gaye. Elan released a tribute cd based on his rendition of the acclaimed artist's work. I had never heard of this amazing saxophonist until the night of the concert and I am already trying to figure out how to attend his next show in Boston (New Year's Eve ). ...

Now Playing: Falana

She's a musician who spent a year in Cuba to hone her craft. What baby steps are you taking today? towards your major goal? Since discovering her music , I have had it on repeat every evening after a long day of work. It's so perfect for fall's chilly weather, or for an intimate moment splitting a bottle of wine with a friend or if you're like me, by yourself, lol.  I believe in self development and stepping outside of your comfort zone so that you can grow. Her sound reminds me that life is beautiful.  That we should appreciate it.  That we should be grateful that we get to experience it daily.  That there's a lot to be grateful for if we just pause and think about it. Have a great week!

Motivation Monday - American Music Awards tribute

It is 3 days until I am officially on Thanksgiving holidays vacation mode*.  Unofficially am already in that state of mind. I need motivation to stay on top of my tasks for the next few days. My Motivation Monday = Music Monday Last night, while watching the AMAs hosted by the fabulous Jenny from the block, I was reminded of some old school favorite songs that always put a smile on my face. It's crazy how much music is pumped out by the industry on a daily basis. And the pressure artists must feel to get public attention and be on top of the charts. How do you stand out from the crowd of many talented artists, all fighting for the same thing. And when you do get to the top like the legendary Celine Dion, how do you stay relevant and maintain cross generational fans? Back in college, Celine Dion was my to go artist to listen to right before a game. From I drove all night , Because you love me , If walls could talk , A New Day has come , To Love you more and etc ...

Product Review : Bluedio Blue Tooth Headphones

I am one of those...."I need music to pump me up!  through  this workout" type of girl. But sometimes it gets tricky having headphones with cords connected to your cellphone or mp3 player while  trying  to perform a crazy routine. You either end up pulling the cords out of the jack or they come off your ears depending on what you are doing. Sometimes the cords are just in the way. When I complained about working out by trying to follow the instructions on a YouTube video on my tablet, a coworker recommended  wireless headphones. Like Duh! Why didn't I think of that?!  He also specifically recommended this brand and I am so glad I followed through with it. I love the Bluedio bluetooth headphones because it gets the job done. I am not one to buy technology because of its aesthetics. I want the products I buy to just do their job, not look pretty. For this headphones I only had 2 requirements. 1. Allow me to wirel...

Artiste du jour: Alec Lomami - Congolese

I had a cray-cray day. Nothing was going right despite my best efforts and intentions. When i finally sat down to get some work done, I realized I had left my bag of goodies pens, pencils, office supplies & et c at home. It was like the universe was telling me to go home and chill out. so I did exactly just that and spent the day listening to and reading all about Alec Lomami and his mixed album of many other African artists  "Africa in Your Ear buds" Below is a music video of one of the songs that helped propel his music career

Winter/Early Spring 2012 PlayList

February and March has me spending a lot of time in textbooks, online, and in the library doing research and reading up on some projects and whatnot am currently working on. Hence, I've needed some good musique to keep me company during these daunting tasks. My current playlist has been in the R&B, jazz, blues, and Celtic sounds. They have helped me stay so immersed in my work on several occasions the librarian has had to literary tap me on the shoulder coz i didnt hear the intercom or see the blinking lights that where an indication of the library closing. What music keeps you focus while working/studying? 1. ASA 2. Richard Bona 3. Celtic Woman 4. Lord of the rings sound tracks...i know..random but have you listened to the musique? its amazing...while watching the film, you get so caught up in the story line i feel like you don't really appreciate the music compositions. 5. Manu Dibango 6. Enya 7.Henrie Dikongue 8. Oh Land.....hmm Indie mus...

Artiste: Irman

I came across this artist on a late night prowl on Google +  and immediately fell in love with this soft spoken native of Yaounde, Cameroon. She was discovered through YouTube and her music is now well known in Europe. She is another example of the mantra...don't sit down and wait for things to happen in your life...CHASE-WALK-RUN-CRAWL after your dreams and they will come to life if you put in the effort. She was able to jump start her music career with funds donated by her fans and people who believed in her music. I never get tired of reading these types of success stories. They are my inspirations to never give up. Not everyone grows up with opportunities served on a golden platter and some of us have to create those opportunities for ourselves. Regardless of the circumstances of your birth, you get to decide how you want the story of your life to end.

Musique de jour: Né gros et Beau

Cameroon artist   Idy Oulo  sings about being neither big nor handsome :). This is actually an old song from his first album in 2007. He also has a YouTube account where you can hear more of his songs and public appearances. And he also has a myspace account:  idyoulomana  where you can download some of his sings. Here is an except from his official website:  http://www.idyoulo.com/ .... ...

Debra Debs Whuman

I recently got my Debra Debs Whuman cd in the mail and I am happy to announce that it was NOT a disappointment. With the premature recent rise in people interested in becoming musicians and fashion clothing's and accessories designers, consumers like myself have become apprehensive in trying out the young and upcoming talents. This reluctance stems from the fact that most of these individuals either do not have the credentials ( did not go to arts school or have previous experience working in the industry) or have in the past presented very sloppy and incomplete products. But this WHUMAN cd was definitely not the case. I loved all 4 tracks and have had it in the car on repeat everyday on my commute to work and back. Being a Ex-Sakereth ^_^, I am not surprised at how polish the album was. We have that reputation of excelling in all that we do. A little bit on the artist from her website: Cameroon-born, London-based soul singer ...
