For the Love of Nescafe

This Post is not for Coffee Snubs.

As much as I love a good cup of fancy coffee,
I find that am always nostalgic about the Nescafe.

It reminds me of morning breakfast routines in Cameroon.
I also love this instant option for making my flask of coffee to take to work.

You can make 100 cups of coffee for less than $5!!!

Now if that's not a money savings power move I don't know what is.

And then to spice it up, I try a variety of lactose free creamers.

Some of my favourite Coffee mate flavors are;

💓 Italian Sweet Creme     ðŸ’“ Caramel Latte
💓 Hazelnut     ðŸ’“ French Vanilla

I was surprised that I did not like the coconut creme. I had such high hopes but it just was not a strong enough taste of coconut. I know the nutritional values of Coffee mate products can be questionable but that's what I currently use to jazz up my Nescafe instant coffee.

Are you a coffee drinker?
If so, How do you like your coffee?

Vacation Travel Destinations Post Covid 19

Keeping in mind travel restrictions and daily changes on information around a SUCCESSFUL covid 19 vaccine, a girl can dream.

If we are still struggling with travel restrictions in December 2020, I'll like to go back to mexico and experience the new year there to symbolically wrap up 2020 because that's where I spent NYE 2019.

Outside of that, I really want to go back to Africa.

My top 3 destinations are;

 1. Kenya

2. Ghana

3. South Africa.

Where will you want to go?

Thrift with me : Goodwill Haul

It's been a while since I stepped foot into a goodwill. Beyond being able to find everyday items for super cheap prices, I love the broader mission of goodwill and all its efforts towards social equity.

My goodwill budget is always between $10-$20. Sometimes I will intentionally not bring my wallet and only carry a paper bill to represent my spending cap because it is easy to get carried away while thrifting.

My second restriction is, I will only shop or buy items with the sale tag of the day to ensure I get the additional 50% off. This takes a lot of discipline especially when you find something you love but it's not in the sale tag color of the day. You have to let it go and try again next time. So everything in this picture was 50% off the price tags.

1. Linchpin : Are you Indispensable by Seth Godin

Seth Godin is an American author who's books turn to focus on entrepreneurship. This book was published in 2010 but am sure it's lessons are still applicable today. I picked it up because it seems to be more focused on the person and not on how to implement business ideas. Lately, I have found myself looking back to consume books/podcasts/music/etc from the past. I am trying to learn to pause and let the things am learning sink in before I move on to the next thing.

2. Fasting for Break through and Deliverance by John Eckhardt.

I picked up this book because I've been drawn to fasting lately but wasn't sure on how to go about it. Over the years, I have tried to incorporate more things in my fasting periods beyond food. Abstaining from food but poisoning your mind with 24/7 of mindless social media entertainment to distract yourself from the hunger pangs doesn't constitute an appropriate fast in my opinion.

 Especially a spiritual based one.

3. How to Become a real estate investor by Henderson.A.Fiddler

I am currently on Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University Baby Step 2 : Paying down my debt . After that, I am interested in getting started with real estate investments. There is A LOT of information on the internet about real estate investments. So much so that I feel overwhelmed every time I try to explore the topics. I like the idea of having ONE BOOK to read, underline and learn about the basics. Kind of like an introductory course.

Information overload sometimes causes me to become paralyzed with indecision and confusion.

4. Kenyan Cap

Kenya and Ghana have been on my mine for a long time now as travel destinations. This cap is a reminder to follow through and book that trip to Kenya. Plus I've been enjoying watching a lot of Kenyan content on YouTube. Perhaps I'll do a blog post with the Kenyan Youtubers I follow.

5. Charlotte Russe sun glasses because I own no glasses and the 114 degrees summer weather in Las Vegas insist that I become an owner of sun glasses for the sake of my eyes. Why people spend $$$$$$$$ on sunglasses that are made in china for cheap, I will never understand.

Did you know , Italian brand Luxottica (owned by Italian Billionaire Leonardo Del Vecchio) has a monopoly of  %90+  of the Sunglasses and Prescription glasses market? And they also own the vision insurance company EyeMed Vision Car. So from the expensive brands to the cheap ones, they own it all and make it for similar prices but market them at different price points. That's why its not worth it, in my opinion to spend so much money on sunglasses.

To each their own. For me, this will suffice. Chances are I will loose it, leave it in a friend's car, sit on it and break it etc....Hence why I stick to buying cheap. Longevity of sunglasses has to do with you taking care of them, not their price tag. I guess if I spent $300 like my friend did, on a pair of glasses am more likely to take care of it....except she sat on it and broke it in like a week lol....and I told her to buy a case for it.

_______________________________________

Each book was $1.99

The Kenyan cap was also $1.99

The Charlotte Rousse glasses were $3.00

Since I only selected items with the designated additional 50% off color tag for the day, I ended up only spending about $6 for all the items. This is a good time to go thrifting because people have been quarantined at home for 3 months. In that time they've done some spring cleaning and taken unused items to the thrift stores donation centers. I also I support thrifting because it contributes to stopping fast fashion, wastage and contributes monetary to all the social agendas of the Goodwill organization.

Covid-19 note: Please make sure to wash everything from the thrift store unless it can't be washed like a book, then wipe it down with a bleach based wipe like Clorox wipes.

Current Life Lessons : COVID 19 Reopening Phase

Lesson #1.

"You cannot trade time for money".

That is my biggest lesson in this season. And by this season I mean post pandemic, reopening transitioning phases where we're all grasping for ANY opportunities to earn an income.

I have come to appreciate my time in quarantine and all the ways I have grown mentally and spiritually. All the books I've read, learning a new skill in cyber security, connecting at a deeper level with my friends, getting on my financial & physical fitness, and etc.

I'm learning that, sometimes there is more value in how I spend my free time than whatever income I would have earned if I had exchange that time to work on something without purpose just to earn some money.

Lesson #2.

I am not unlovable and my expectations are not overboard.

Just because someone cannot love me the way I expect to be loved doesn't mean that they do not love me. It just means, they are limited in their ability to express it the way I want it to be expressed.

It means their love language is different from mine, so I need to pay more attention to other potential ways they may be trying to express that love.

And even if they truly refuse to love me.....it doesn't make me unlovable. That's their choice. It doesn't change the fact that I am loved by God and many other friends and family. I need to readjust my lens and focus on those who DO love me and engage with them to let those relationships flourish instead of obsessing over the rejections. Whatever you feed or give attention to , grows.

Book Review : The Alice Network by Kate Quinn

Image from : All Characters wanted

I borrowed my copy from my local library as I do with a lot of my books and unfortunately returned it without thinking to take personalized pictures with it. So the image of the book above is from All characters wanted, who also has a book review for it.

However, here is a picture of it on my instagram page with another book I am currently reading.

I looooooooooooooved the Alice Network.
This was a much needed break from my self help and spiritual books.

I am a sucker for periodics especially stories that go back and forth between the past and the present.

I love how the author inserts different themes about the feminist movement and the restrictions around women in those eras even those who fought for England in the World Wars.,

And in true James Bond fashion, you cant have a story about spies and not have a love story interwoven into it.
The 2 go together like rice and beans.

I would say for me the story built up very slowly.
I almost gave up on reading the book and actually put it down several times but decide to stick it through and I am glad I did that.

Once the story line or shall I say series of events picked up pace, I could not put the book down! I had to know what happened next.

I recommend this book if you like the following themes in your novels  #Adventure #Lovestory #Spies :) #Feminism #AllthingsBritish

I looked up the Author Kate Quinn and she seems to have a couple of historical based novels especially around France, Germany and England with the settings being around the world wars.

Two others novels by this author that I would be interested in reading in the future are;
1. The Huntress

2. The Rose Code

I give it 4 Hearts❤❤❤❤ out of 5
I subtracted one because of the slow beginning.
