Film: Where The Water Meets the SKY (ZAMBIA)

I love watching international movies and documentaries. Its been a while since I attended a viewing. I recently found out about the International film series in Belmont,MA and the documentary Where the Water Meets the SKY

I plan on attending the series next week Wednesday = March 27th @ 7:30p to watch this documentary. It was originally released in 2008

Where the Water Meets the Sky is a documentary filmed by a group of women in Zambia and narrated by the actor Morgan Freeman. It follows the life of a group of young women and how the presence of HIV in their community has affected their lives.

The documentary was produced in partnership with CAMFED, an organization geared towards fighting the spread and impact of HIV in regions such as Zambia, Ghana, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.

" Camfed began training women in filmmaking in 2003 as a way of empowering them to tell their own stories, in their own voices. African women are often presented to the rest of the world by outsiders, through the lens of poverty, illiteracy and illness. Camfed’s filmmaking initiative reverses that model, transforming them from subjects into authors. It provides marginalized women, who have virtually no outlets for expressing their views, with a way to challenge injustices in their community and advocate for change" .
